Councilman Tariq Bokhari
Charlotte City Councilman Tariq Bokhari has spent his professional career at the intersection of financial and technology industries, and is an influential leader in the financial technology (fintech) industry. He is serving his first term on council and is the representative of District 6, the southern area of Charlotte.
He is the CEO and co-founder of Aggressant Inc., a business focused on developing platforms and applications that solve today’s consumer, business and bank challenges through emerging tech and artful UX design. Bokhari currently serves as the Executive Director of the nonprofit Carolina Fintech Hub (CFH) whose mission is to promote and help financial technology companies in a region who is the home of the 3rd largest banking center in the nation.
A champion of growing IT talent in the Charlotte region, Councilman Bokhari has frequently partnered with UNC Charlotte to promote innovative programming.
Prior to these roles, he served as the Head of Innovation and Investment for FIS Global, and held executive positions in companies such as GE Capital, Wells Fargo and Wachovia.
Bokhari was inducted into the 2010 Charlotte Business Journal class of 40 under 40 and was named as the 2016 Next Money Risk Taker of the Year. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Radford University.
